General questions

Where can I visit a Woodcab ?

You can visit our different models and sizes with an open garden solution. Visit our “visit a Woodcab” page to make an appointment.

Can I live in a Woodcab all year round ?

Yes, it is possible to enjoy your Woodcab all year round. The construction process we use to build our garden studios offers a level of insulation that allows you to live in them all year round. Your Woodcab has 10 cm of dried grass fibre insulation (Gramitherm) around the perimeter of the walls and 20 cm on the floor and 10 cm on the ceiling.

How long does a Woodcab last ?

A Woodcab has the same lifetime as a traditional wood construction. Building a garden studio has the same requirements as any other wood construction, which we have adapted to the size of our modules.

Does wood cladding need to be treated ?

Exterior maintenance is not necessary. The wooden cladding of our Woodcab’s can be burnt or natural. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, burnt wood adds a layer of resistance and thus protects it from weather, UV, mould and insects and ironically from fire.

How much does a Woodcab cost ?

These are prices without VAT and without options, including installation if it does not require more than a crane truck. We start at 19.000 € for our Tiny model (6,3m2) up to 42.000 € for our biggest model (19,8m2). To get a better idea of the cost of your project, please visit our configurator or contact us directly.

Where does the wood come from ?

All the wood used in the manufacture of our Woodcab’s is European and meets the FSC and PEFC standards.

Assembly and installation of a Woodcab

How is the installation carried out ? Is it included in the price ?

We take care of everything. We have the necessary information from your quotation request form. Delivery (with a truck crane), laying the foundations, placing and installing the Woodcab are included in the offer. No surprises.

How long does it take to receive my Woodcab ?

As soon as you confirm your order by paying the deposit, you will receive your model within 1.5 to 3.5 months. The actual delivery takes between half a day and 1 day (for the Cosy 14.4m2 and Maxi 17,3m2 models).

Do I need a foundation ?

Our Woodcab garden studios are installed on light foundations (foundation screws or adjustable blocks). We will come and place them a few days before the installation of your Woodcab.

Is it possible to move a Woodcab to another site ?

Yes, the garden studio is placed on foundation screws and not on a concrete slab. We can do this for you for the price of transport.

Purchase and financing solution

What are the financing options for purchasing a Woodcab ?

If you are a company, Woodcab offers financing solutions adapted to your needs and means. You can also consult your bank for a loan and get a better rate.

Is there a second-hand market ?

Woodcab’s are designed to have a second life. The removable panels can be easily replaced and we can put all our Woodcab’s back together as good as new.

Can I deduct the cost of a Woodcab from my business expenses if I use it for business purposes ?

In most cases, the Woodcab can be deducted as a business expense. However, we advise you to contact your accountant.

Does my woodcab have to be accounted for in the property tax calculation ?

In most cases, the Woodcab is not fixed in the ground and can be considered as movable property, which is not taxable. However, we advise you to contact your accountant.

Regulations

What are the current regulations ?

It depends on the country, region and municipality:

In most cases, a Woodcab can be considered as a lightweight prefabricated building or garden annex that does not require planning permission if it meets the following criteria :

  • only one annexe per house
  • it is set back 2m from adjoining boundaries
  • the Woodcab is not used as a home but as a place to occupy on an occasional basis, without sanitary facilities

The need for a permit must be verified on a case-by-case basis with the municipalities concerned. If a permit is requested by the administration, it is in the vast majority of cases an accelerated request.
